Watch: ‘I was a conspiracy theorist for 15 years. Now I’m on a mission to bring others back to reality.’Brent Lee Regan from Bristol describes his journey down the rabbit hole of internet conspiracies and back to reality, and how it led him to creating his podcast explaining how conspiracy theories work."
Conspiracy theories themselves are not new, but the internet has given them mass reach and propelled them into new realms of absurdity. Brent Lee Regan from Brislington knows this all too well – for 15 years he was a dedicated conspiracy theorist.
Elements of Brent’s life, combined with the rise of disinformation on the early noughties internet, brought him to a community of people who gave him a sense of belonging and answers to the complex, interconnected ‘truth’ he was looking for.
Watch this short documentary in which Brent shares his story with us – from the beginnings of how he became interested in conspiracy theories, to where he is now: helping spread the word about the dangers. You can hear more from Brent at the Some Dare Call it Conspiracy podcast with author Neil Sanders, in which they give listeners a “grand tour of the rabbit hole”, or at his YouTube channel @BrentLeeTV.
